Unskilled empath, what’s that?
Here’s the sad part. “Unskilled empath” is another name for “talented empath.”
If you were born as an empath and haven’t learned skills yet, you’re going to suffer. You’re going to constantly pick up STUFF belonging to other people. You’ll be less effective than you could be.
Unfortunately, most empaths don’t even know the word.
Other empaths confuse being an empath with being an HSP, a Highly Sensitive Person. They may work hard at techniques for HSPs, but those techniques won’t help.
Sure, empaths are HSPs. But most HSPs aren’t empaths. Besides, Empath Empowerment is a very specific skill set, not just something a person slides into by becoming healthy as an HSP.
Other symptoms of being an unskilled empath
Lack of knowledge keeps an empath in the unskilled category. So it’s a tipoff if the empath:
- Thinks being an empath means being oh-so-delicate and fragile emotionally.
- Thinks that a useful name for this potentially great talent is Intuitive Empath.
Naming your gift(s) wrong is not the pathway to Empath Empowerment!
- Tells you, “I am working on my boundaries.” (The boundary approach doesn’t work for empaths. Here’s why.)
- Works hard at the counter-productive form of busywork known as creating an Invisible Shield, walls, etc.
- Valiantly struggles against being co-dependent. (Many unskilled empaths mistake their sublime gift for a very specific type of psychological problem, codependency.)
-
Worries (secretly or not-so-secretly), “Could I be crazy?” Here’s one example.
But not to worry
